What should I do before storing or transporting my coffee maker?

Empty the water reservoir before storing or transporting and ensure you store your coffee maker in a safe and frost-free environment in its upright position to avoid water leakage. If stored in a cold environment, water may freeze inside and cause damage. When preparing to use it after storage, rinse the water reservoir with fresh water and run three rinsing brews without a K-Cup pod, as well as a 12-cup carafe brew with no ground coffee. If the coffee maker has been in a below-freezing environment, let it warm to room temperature for at least 2 hours before using. (Page 7)
