How should I store and prepare my K-Duo Essentials if I won't use it for a while?

Empty the water reservoir before storing or transporting and store the brewer in its upright position in a safe, frost-free environment. When you prepare to use it after storage, rinse the water reservoir with fresh water and run three rinsing brews without a K-Cup pod, plus a 12-cup carafe brew with no ground coffee. If stored in a cold environment, let the brewer warm to room temperature for at least 2 hours before using. (Page 7)
