How do I remove and clean the pump guard?

Wait at least 20 minutes after a cycle for the heating element to cool down, then unload and remove the bottom rack. Press the outside wall of the pump guard at the center to release the latch, and lift it out and rinse clean. To replace it, insert the pump guard legs into matching openings in the filter screen, press down on the outside wall until the latch snaps into place, and replace the bottom rack with rack bumpers in front.
