How should I prepare the dryer if I am going on vacation or storing it for an extended period?

If you will not be using the dryer for an extended period, you should unplug the dryer or disconnect the power, and if it is a gas dryer, close the shut-off valve to the gas supply line. You should also clean the lint screen before storing. The manual also notes that you should only operate the dryer when you are at home. (Page 11)
