How do I safely clear a clogged discharge chute?

Never use your hand to clean out the discharge chute, as hand contact with the rotating impeller inside is the most common cause of injury associated with snow blowers. First, shut the engine off and wait 10 seconds to be sure the impeller blades have stopped rotating, then always use a clean-out tool or stick to clear the clog. (Pages 4, 11)
