Why is it important to fill out the Consumer Product Ownership Registration card?

The Consumer Product Ownership Registration card should be filled out and returned because proof of the original purchase date is needed to obtain service under the warranty. If you cannot find the card, a duplicate card is printed in the back of the manual. (Page 2)
