What happens if the mTwisT dial is removed while the cooktop is in use?

If the mTwisT dial is removed from the cooktop while it is operating, the elements will turn off and the controls become locked — this is known as panel lock. The cooktop cannot be used again until the dial is replaced, and you must then touch and hold the Panel Lock pad for three seconds to unlock the controls. (Page 4)
