How long does it take for the ice maker to produce its first batch of ice, and are there any precautions?

Allow 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice, and discard the first three batches produced. You should then wait 72 hours for full ice production. Additionally, avoid connecting the ice maker to a softened water supply, as water softener chemicals such as salt can damage parts of the ice maker and lead to poor quality ice. (Page 14)
