What should I do to prepare the refrigerator before going on vacation?

If leaving the refrigerator on, use up perishables, freeze other items, turn off the water supply to the refrigerator, turn off the ice maker, and empty the ice bin. If turning the refrigerator off, remove all food, turn off the water supply at least one day ahead, unplug the unit, clean and dry it thoroughly, and prop both doors open slightly with rubber or wood blocks to prevent odor and mold buildup.
